Storytelling through photos during national pandemic

I was asked in my Journalism 340 class to capture a moment in time through photography. The following pictures tell the story of two teenagers trying to date during a state lock down. Due to the outbreak and rapid spread of COVID-19 a state lock down was issued by Michigan’s governor Gretchen Whitmer that requires Michigan residents to only leave the house if absolutely necessary. Places like movies and restaurants are closed and so couples like Jamie Maczorowski and Jeffrey Johnson must make due with dating at home.

On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, Jamie Maczorowski and her boyfriend Jeffrey Johnson are at her home in Gaylord, Michigan. The couple couldn’t go to Applebee’s or to the movie theater to see “I Still Believe,” so instead they enjoy Italian ice as they relax on Jamie’s bed on there four month anniversary.

Although disappointed that she couldn’t go out for her anniversary, Jamie is happy her boyfriend is quarantined at her house during lockdown as opposed to not seeing him for three weeks.
The state wide lockdown may have affected Jamie Maczorowski and Jeffrey Johnsons plans; however it cannot stop Jamie from being so immersed in this moment with her boyfriend as she tries not to spit up her Italian ice over a joke her boyfriend made.
After talking for nearly ten minutes Jeffrey Johnson is exhaunsted after a long day at work. The couple peacfully relaxes and enjoys eachothers company, they do not want to take this moment for granted.

This is a headshot of my little sister Jamie Maczorowski. Jamie is sixteen years old and is a Junior in High School. In my Journalism 340 class I was asked to take a headshot of someone. I asked my sister because she is photogenic and also cooperative. She allowed me to take 10 to 15 photos of her from different angles. I chose this photo because I thought it fit the qualifications for the assignment the best and it also highlights her eyes. I edited the photo in light room to makes it even more appealing.

Pilot Episode – The Effects and Growth of the Makeup Industry

This podcast was produced by me and my friend Paige Sharp. In the podcast we talk about the growth of the makeup industry and how it is affecting our society. Our goal of this particular episode was to introduce our podcast, attract makeup lovers and to get people informed about the impact the makeup industry is having on our society. The goal of the entire podcast is to bring the makeup community together to openly discuss makeup. Another goal of the podcast as a whole is to be informative about what’s going on in the makeup community.
