I was inspired to make a “how to” video by watching a video called “how to roll a joint,” by Ethan Jerry. I was inspired to make this “how to make a face mask” video, by recently watching tutorials on YouTube. I myself needed a face mask. My house has poor lighting and so I filmed outside and took advantage of the sidewalk to film my video. The materials to make this video were easy to obtain, because they were materials I could find around the house. I had quite a few difficulties recording this video. I had only myself to work with and so I had to record and create the face mask at the same time, that is why I only use one hand to make the mask. I believe I did a good job keeping the camera still in this situation. This video is of me, Chantel Maczorowski, showing viewers how to make a face mask. It has become a requirement in the state of Michigan to wear a mask in public due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With face masks being in high demand, they are difficult to obtain and so people like me are finding ways to make them at home. I hope this video can help people create masks that are both easy to make and affordable.
Pandemic
Storytelling through photos during national pandemic
I was asked in my Journalism 340 class to capture a moment in time through photography. The following pictures tell the story of two teenagers trying to date during a state lock down. Due to the outbreak and rapid spread of COVID-19 a state lock down was issued by Michigan’s governor Gretchen Whitmer that requires Michigan residents to only leave the house if absolutely necessary. Places like movies and restaurants are closed and so couples like Jamie Maczorowski and Jeffrey Johnson must make due with dating at home.
